Interrupting anime devouring session: "So, you have chosen death."

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

now im thinking what would happen, if Mitsuha The Messenger of Lightning would show the Princess some dee vee dee of magical girl animes. I mean wich little girl can resist them?

Leo Aestron • 1 year ago

Thunder Shrine Maiden Princess, not Messenger.
The translation got it wrong.

NekoMG2 • 1 year ago

Maybe the translation mean it in different phrase,
Because Himemiko (Shrine Maiden Princess) can be mean as Messenger of Gods too...

Chase Gonzaga • 1 year ago

hime=princess miko=shrine maiden

NekoMG2 • 1 year ago

Miko's job is as the messenger to gods...

Chase Gonzaga • 1 year ago

that's a job description not a translation

my hime

Ouma Yuu • 1 year ago

It's not actually that far off the mark if you think about it. Shrine Maidens or priestesses are also considered as messengers of the gods they represent. They just didn't go with a direct translation of it... Probably.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

I mean, Messenger of Lighting rolls easy in the tongue and maybe the dub....
who knows what they will use for the dub

I personally go for the "Lightning Maiden"

Rustin Landis • 1 year ago

It's not the first anime that has had the translation coming out different than what is heard. I still remember hearing characters speaking in English and the subtitles implied they said something else. I believe that instance was in the series "The Misfit of Demon King Academy", but might be wrong.

KFA • 1 year ago

This is because of localization. Pirate sub groups usually translate more literally while official translations try to localize translations, in this case Shrine Maiden is sort of Japan exclusive term so they went with Messenger instead (Messenger makes perfect sense if you've played RPG's where people affliated with elements are often called messengers, e.g Messenger of Light, Messenger of Wind and so on). In addition sometimes direct English is actually Engrish and it just translates differently, e.g mansion = apartment.

This doesn't meant that there aren't occasional trainwreck translations but you know, some insight into subbing scene.

Aeroblade • 1 year ago

Right. Glad a couple people caught that.
雷の姫巫女 (Ikazuchi no Hime Miko) "Thunder Princess Shrine Maiden"
Crunchyroll sucks ass at doing subs. Never trust the subtitles. I'm sick of them doing this all the time, especially throwing memes into the subs like in Nagatoro

Krenz-Gun • 1 year ago

Thunder Shrine Maiden Princess title coming until after war ep.

JDC • 1 year ago

at this rate there might actually be that covered in this season, they blowing past the chapters.

Krenz-Gun • 1 year ago

Actually her title is coming to future seasons (after war arc eps).

Joe • 1 year ago

Too late. That was clearly Pretty Cure

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

There are weird or wrong subs in almost every anime. You seem to understand japanese well enough, why bother with any subs? Or just ignore them and dont let it bother you

Aeroblade • 1 year ago

Sometimes it's hard to ignore, like when Crunchyroll subtitled "Become popular" as "Giga Chad" in Nagatoro the other week.

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

i know what you mean, but still, getting annoyed by that isnt worth it ;) just call them n00bs and continue on

Jushin Katu • 1 year ago

but I thought that was already what they were watchin does it not?

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

*shrugs* have oinly that samurai scene in my mind. So then Mitsuha should get some merchandise like a magic wand and present it to the princess

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

Imagine if she heard of Adelaide's ball and the dress she used and asked Mitsuha if she could buy a dress like that

Mini_Minion • 1 year ago

i can imagine Mitsuha beeing forced to make a ball for Sabine wich will top that ball of Adelaide.

Fayt Leingod • 1 year ago

beatrice and sabine-chan would have a fight for mitsuha

Vampressqueen Colvin • 1 year ago

IKR ⁉️ Blasphemous! 🤣

Krenz-Gun • 1 year ago

Yep! Princess Sabine hate interrupt to anime shows, and she probably hates ad's too.

Almight • 1 year ago

Fayt Leingod • 1 year ago

while having those killer looks

FYI, another series the author writes, “I Shall Survive Using Potions!”, just got an anime announced a few days ago.

It’s sort of similar to this, in that the main character is an office woman who dies in an accident and a god comes to her and says “hey wanna be isekai’d” and she goes “yes but make me 15 years old and give me the power to make any potion I want so I can sell them for mad money” and the god is all “sure whatever lol”

Grandpa Lampshade • 1 year ago

I'm in!

Yeah i would love to read it's novel, i got to know about it's novel after i finished the first vol of LN of 80K.

‮nonA • 1 year ago

Where do you guys get all these novels? Is there a website?

jnovels .com

JNC has it.

Ian Nava H • 1 year ago

Well...... that's probably one of the few cases where the main character deliberately asked to be younger when getting isekai'd instead of being just a convenient thing

Satoshi Ookami • 1 year ago
and the god is all “sure whatever lol”

Sasuga, kami-sama.

gdprsn • 1 year ago

But she's not dead.

Usami Mizuki • 1 year ago

Mitsuha is terrifying but Sabine is much more terrifying when she got interrupted from watching Dee Vee Dee.
